Book Review - Wild at Heart
Wild at Heart, by John Eldredge, starts as he's tracking a bull elk high in the
Colorado Rockies. But the book isn't about elk hunting, it's about men being
men. Men being `wild at heart' - and being created that way by God. With what
seems like radical thinking, John lays out the God-given basis for the inherent
dreams, passions, and desires in each one of us - and that they're natural - and
that we need to live out - but the dreams, passions, and desires we too often
bury or crowd out.
God created us to have … a Battle to Fight … an Adventure to Live … and a Beauty
to Rescue. But in the day to day, for too many days, and especially if we `go to
church', we find ourselves being [only] good, [only] dutiful, and [only] nice. If
you need encouragement in becoming the man you know you would like to be - but
he's hidden inside - or only partially out - then this boost is what you need.
Gentlemen - we are in peril of much loss to become only domestic. God has made
us for so much more. And Wild at Heart is also, maybe even more so, for wives
and mothers of men and men-to-be. My wife read this book before I did - so when the time
when a guy talked to me about making a business out of my hunting passion - we
were both ready! And I got the green light.
Wild at Heart is one of a number of books by John Eldredge. His books can be
purchased on line at
www.ransomedheart.com and at many Christian bookstores.
