Sassie ...
... with the sun coming in my office window I was able to talk Doug out of his studies for a quick recon for Sasquatch, a.k.a. Bigfoot, today Sassie. Jackie came along as camera person. We went up to the abandoned Tamarack Ski Area area on Moscow Mountain where there have been several sightings, one as recent as Summer 2005 (BFRO Report 12913). Doug is familiar with the area and was able to show us the `exact' spot. On the drive up there was a sense of becoming a part of history. Doug showed us where the people were sitting and where the Sasquatch was/were. Doug showed us where with one step the adult female `stepped' from the road to the top of the embankment on the uphill side. Amazing. There were a lot of people around, including shooting (which is interesting since there is not supposed to be shooting in that area) ... so we didn't stay long. We did hike a ways up a trail-road, but the snow made regular foot travel very labored. On the way home we saw a couple moose. Jackie got pics.
So, no need to go far to look for Sasquatch. We discussed ways to get a sighting, ranging from just spending time in the area hunting turkey and bear, to full-blown military tactical methods. Also, Doug and I differ on weapons needed, or should I say, if needed. In my opinion visible weapons will make a sighting less likely. And I do NOT want to shoot one. Plus, people with significant firepower who have encountered Sasquatch have stated that they considered whatever firepower they had as being useless. And I also would certainly not like to wound one.
In my opinion if he/she/it feels `hunted', it/she/he will probably stay invisible.
So, do I believe in Sasquatch? Depends on what you mean by `believe'. Do I believe - in the sense that he saved me from my sins? ... or something like that? ... No. (Jesus is alone in that category.) Do I believe he/she/it exists? ... Yeah, probably so. But what do I believe he/she/it is? ... that is the question.
Doug's dad (see article ... here) believes Bigfoot is a spiritual creature - and thus the termination of the tracks. From what I can tell, the Native Americans for the most part seemed to lodge in the `spirit creature' realm. And there is Biblical support for such a thing, kind of ... (Genesis 6:1-4). And, yes, I do believe in the Bible. I didn't think much of the `spiritual being' theory until I noticed that two sightings in this area on Moscow Mountain have some interesting similarities, yet are some forty-three years apart (Reports 12913 and 6758). Or perhaps Sassie is just an animal ... a big and elusive one at that. Or maybe man gone ape (for which there is also Biblical support).
One thing is certain - don't forget this thing is BIG.
